Energising Gemstones

Did you know that simply wearing a gemstone isn’t enough to unlock its full potential? To truly benefit from its power, energizing your gemstone is essential. This process activates its energy and aligns it with your unique vibrations.

As a Vedic astrologer, I’m often asked about the best ways to energize gemstones. To help, I’ve created a detailed guide outlining the cleansing and activation rituals. Whether you wear a Ruby for confidence or an Emerald for mental clarity, this guide will show you how to strengthen your connection with their cosmic energies. Bring your gemstones to life and experience their transformative magic!

Keep in mind that not all gemstones suit everyone. It’s crucial to consult a qualified astrologer to ensure a gemstone aligns with your birth chart and supports your life’s journey.

For the best results, perform the energizing ritual during the Waxing Moon (Shukla Paksha), when the Moon’s energy is growing. Choose the appropriate day and mantra for your gemstone from the table below.

Ritual for Energizing Your Gemstone

Now that you’ve identified the suitable gemstone and gathered the necessary details, follow these steps to ensure a proper energization ritual:

1. Check Auspicious Timings

  • Refer to the Chogadhiya to find the auspicious time on your chosen day.
  • Cross-check with the Panchang for particularly auspicious or inauspicious timings.
Note: Avoid Panchang’s inauspicious times, even if the Chogadhiya suggests otherwise.

2. Perform the Ritual

On the morning of the selected day:

  1. Prepare Yourself:
    • Take a shower to purify your body.
    • After showering, perform Aachaman to cleanse internally:
      • Take a spoon of water and recite:
        • Om Keshavaya Namah (sip)
        • Om Narayanaya Namah (sip)
        • Om Madhavaya Namah (sip)
      • Finally, raise your hands and recite:
        • Om Govinda Hastaprakshalaya Namah (wash hands)
  2. Prepare a Cleansing Mixture:
    • In a copper, brass, or glass pot (avoid steel), combine:
      • Honey
      • Ghee
      • Cow’s Milk
      • Tulsi leaves
      • Ganga Jal
    • Place your gemstone in this mixture and let it soak for 20–30 minutes to cleanse residual energies.
  3. Set Up Your Space:
    • Light a diya in your home temple and sit facing east.
    • Rinse the gemstone with Ganga Jal and gently dry it with a clean cloth or paper towel.
    • Light dhoop or agarbatti, and pass the gemstone through the smoke for about a minute. (Ensure the stone is at a safe distance from the flame.)
  4. Activate the Gemstone:
    • If you have a yantra for the associated planet, place the gemstone on it. Otherwise, use a small plate.
    • Close your eyes, fold your hands, and focus on the planetary deity or your family deity.
  5. Recite the Mantra:
    • Chant the associated mantra 108 times (or in multiples of 108) while focusing your mind and the sound vibrations on the gemstone.
    • For a Pearl, you may place it on a Shivling and perform abhishek with milk while chanting the mantra, if desired.
  6. Wear the Gemstone:
    • After completing the ritual, wear the gemstone, keeping your intent firmly in mind.
